ASTRO America to open $20m solid state manufacturing center for AFSD in Illinois
ASTRO America plans to open a 25,000 square foot Center for Solid State Manufacturing in Milan, Illinois, in February 2027, backed by a $20 million investment. The site is meant to bring additive friction stir deposition closer to use in US military sustainment, near the Rock Island Arsenal. The announcement came during a visit by Senator Dick Durbin and Representative Eric Sorensen.
